Briefing on the 6th framework --------------------------------------- 1st deadline on 13th of May or later rather not in March next deadline in September no proactive (much admired) projects within our scope "health care" parts of call (which will be out in December) are data mining & bio-informatics Discussion of Protocure 2 ----------------------------------- Mar will organize proposal Partners send letters to CBO stating that it is crucial for Protocure II that CBO joins Discussion of partners 3 partners from the Netherlands are much, but Peter is interested in continuing, so maybe as subcontractor of CBO or VU Adding medical partners CBO: we need additional guideline medical person/guideline writer CBO is going to develop a Diabetes guideline (maybe living) Fred is already in via CBO Albert Juval from Barcelona is in AGREE project together with Kitty & is medical doctor Wolfgang: Partners need true interest in the project CBO will look for suitable partners from the guideline community Brainstorming on Topics -------------------------------- big Overlap: living guidelines, newly developed guidelines, integration into the GL creation process Joyce: 1 part: frequent update 2nd part: GL are too little used, integrate them as much as possible into the working process of the physician, computerize guidelines, put them into ICT-tools, have different modules in different GL interact with each other. Put all moduls into a big database. All GL in the Netherlands should be integrated. Joyce is leading the project, currently internally funded Frank: until now we did not intrude intro medical daily practice, this made it easier to sell Protocure - integrate the developed tools (& improve them) - extend to the practical (soft?) side (e.g., AGREE instrument, indicators) - refocus from existing to living guidelines (causes item 2) Frank: Semantic web aspects would bring in two things: - we need some ontology for the background knowledge - let us steal back the idea of having a protocol portal from John Fox Whole semantic web idea would be to broad. Wolfgangs most recent words: I want a field where there is either a huge market or a horrible disease. Frank: old slogan: Protocols are like computer programs, new slogan: protocol development is like software engineering Michael: let's say what we can contribute Andi: Asbru is developing towards multisource guidelines and making the source of information transparent. Michael: Integration could mean that Asbru and KIV is moved together (automated translation, higher level proof support). Also the gap between GL and Asbru should be narrowed by formulating the original GL in a more structured/formal way. Asbru could become a supporting language for guideline development. We can also provide a lot for the reuse. Frank: Interest of us would be integration & configuration of moduls, design patterns, and refinement. Silvia: Our strong parts are on the modeling side (patterns etc.) CBO: detection of errors and repair is interesting in the design process Conclusion: Every group including CBO sends a buidling block (max. 2 pages) to Mar (and the mailing list) till end of year. Then writing group (i.e. Mar + optional help) merges the blocks to a first draft version of the proposal. This will be discussed in the February meeting and circulated before. Final report --------------- Due after the end of the project, i.e., in December. Amsterdam will provide some basis.
